Warning: This is a full-on book newsletter this week. I will return to my normal bullshit soon.
It’s been a wild couple of weeks with I’M WEARING TUNICS NOW finally out in the world! Because the release date was changed a couple of times, I had more than a few celebrations, starting with a party in Austin. My friends made keychains, wore tunics and pretended to be happy about wearing tunics, drank Gin & Tunics, and then we had a great event at BookPeople where I was interviewed by my friend Kathy Valentine. (Her book is great and you should read it if you haven’t yet.)
I also had a fun event at my local library, a place I mentioned when I was recently interviewed by the New York Times about using humor in difficult situations. That’s right, I was in the Science section. I didn’t even know there’s a Science section.
Finally, my friends Isabel and Katie hosted a party for me in NYC at Isabel’s beautiful apartment. There were about 60 people there, but I was too busy trying to talk to each one of them while not acting like I was fresh off the farm to take many photos of the evening. Here’s a pic of the tunic cookies, though. Tunicookies? Someone trademark that.
If you haven’t yet read Tunics, I have to wonder WHY, but here’s an excerpt in McSweeneys that’s been making the rounds.
If you have read Tunics, please:
1) Leave a review at Amazon/B & N if you bought your book there. I’d also love one on Goodreads. I’m not linking to Goodreads because it’s better for my mental health if I don’t go to that website and read another two-star review of my midlife book left by a 19-year-old.
2) Consider giving a copy or 100 copies as gifts this holiday! I’m getting Tunic bookplates, so I’m more than happy to personalize and sign as many as you need and mail them to you. Email me at wendi@wendiaarons.com
3) Don’t forget that my middle-grade book GINGER MANCINO, KID COMEDIAN also makes a great gift! It’s perfect for ages 8-12, and I hear a lot of adults enjoy it, too.
4) Let me know if you’re interested in any book club or library events and I’ll show up with a tunic on. Maybe two.
Finally, thank you all for your support. It’s been wonderful to get so many messages and texts from people enjoying the book!
